Biography

Srilal is a Consultant Paediatrician and is the In charge of the Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children since 2001.

He is the first paediatrician in the country to take up Intensive care unit full time.

Srilal is also the President of Sri Lanka Society for Critical care and Emergency Medicine, the immediate past president of the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians and a life member of Paediatric critical care chapter of Indian Academy of Paediatrics.

He graduated from the University of Colombo, followed by the post graduation specializing in Paediatrics, obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1999, and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians subsequently.

Srilal represents Sri Lanka at the World Federation of Paediatric Intensive and Critical Care Society, consecutively since 2007 to date

He also pioneered the organisation of the Paediatric life support programme in Sri Lanka with assistance from Resuscitation council in Australia and NZ.

Srilal served as a faculty member of the Adult “Emergency Life Care” module organised by Australian Faculty.

He was also a pioneer in organizing the “Adult life Support course” for Critical care & emergency medicine activity in collaboration with Australian Adult Life Support Faculty, for the first time in Sri Lanka.
