Biography

Yashvi is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Pre-hospital Care and Retrieval working at Lismore Base Hospital and Northern NSW Retrieval Service and also Greater Sydney Area HEMS Service.

He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, University of Sydney.

Yashvi was born in Sri Lanka and attended Ananda College and Colombo International School prior to going to medical school in the UK.

He attended medical training at the University of Southampton and completed specialist training in EM on the West Midlands rotation in the UK.

After completing EM training in 2012 he took his skills to the pre-hospital environment and undertook a Retrieval fellowship with the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) in Scotland.

Prior to embarking on his Australian adventure he worked as a locum consultant at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), which is a busy Major Trauma Center with over 850 major traumas per annum.

Yashvi has always had a passion for the mountains.

In
 2010 he completed the UIAA/IKAR/ISM University of Leicester Diploma in Mountain Medicine.

He was elected
to the diploma faculty in 2013.

He also holds membership of Medex and BMRES.

Yashvi is passionate about all mountain sports including rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, alpinism and high altitude mountaineering.

He has led and been a medic on expeditions to the greater ranges of Europe, Africa, South America and Himalaya.

His interests include Apnoeic Oxygenation, Emergency airway management, Lung Ultrasound, High Altitude pathology with presentations at numerus international conferences (SMACC/ICEM/EuSEM/AMPED) and publications in Annals Emerg, EMJ and Wilderness Enviro Med Journals.
