Emergency Nursing Workshop
We invite emergency nurses to come to the first ever nursing workshop at Developing EM.
International and local emergency nurse leaders will present an interactive workshop on emergency nursing assessment. This workshop will build capability in nurses to meet the unique challenges of assessing undifferentiated patients in the high risk emergency environment. It will combine comprehensive emergency assessment skills with non technical skills such as communication and graded assertiveness to optimise emergency care.
Join with your emergency colleagues and leaders to promote emergency nursing in Sri Lanka.

About the facilitators
Kate Curtis
Has been an Emergency Nurse since 1994. She is a Trauma Coordinator at St George Hospital Sydney and Professor at Sydney Nursing School. Kate also works as an RN at Wollongong ED, is on the Editorial Board of the Australasian Journal of Emergency Nursing and has a passion for conducting and helping others conduct Emergency and Trauma research.
Margaret Murphy
Born in Ireland, Margaret immigrated to Australia in 1988. She has over 25 years experience in emergency nursing including 20 years as a Clinical Nurse Consultant at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Prior to working in emergency Margaret has had experience in Mental Health, Intensive Care, Education and Change Management. More recently she has worked as a principal project officer at the NSW Ministry of Health. She has a strong commitment to clinical nursing and improving emergency care.
Keerthi Wanasekara
Is the Principal, School of Nursing at the National institute of Health Sciences (WHO collaboration center), Kaluthara, Sri Lanka. He is also the President of the Sri Lanka nurses association and committee member of the Commonwealth Nurses Federation. He is involved in developing the curriculum for Sri Lanka’s emergency nursing diploma course in collaboration with Inje University South Korea.
Ranujie Wijayasooriya
Is an award winning registered Emergency nurse who grew up in Sri Lanka and lived there until she was 18 years old. Ranujie works in the Emergency Department of the 600-bed Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, one of the largest public hospitals in the United States. LAC+USC operates special units including a Burn Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a Level-One Trauma Center for the most severe injuries.
