DevelopingEM is a new direction in medical education, combining cutting edge training in critical care medicine, with a focus on providing a meaningful contribution to medical professionals in developing regions through an inclusive and philanthropic approach.
DevelopingEM is a not for profit conference organising agency specialising in providing a practical clinical approach to the delivery of emergency medicine and critical care education to senior practitioners in the fields of emergency medicine, intensive and critical care medicine, anaesthetics, and prehospital and retrieval medicine.
We have always aimed at hosting a conference in the South Asian region and the overwhelming interest in the idea from within Sri Lanka was the major reason for choosing Colombo this year.
DevelopingEM is partnering with the Sri Lankan Medical Association, Post Graduate Institute of Medicine and the Sri Lankan Society for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine to host the event in December 2016.
It’s an exciting time for critical care and emergency medicine in Sri Lanka with plans to expand the system of Emergency Treatment Units, based on an Anglo-American model, countrywide.
Both established critical care specialists and an expanding group of local trainees are excitedly looking forward to interacting with colleagues from all over the globe during the conference.
Not only will they be keen to learn from another outstanding faculty but there will be plenty of opportunity for our international delegates to learn from their local colleagues about particular Sri Lankan fields of expertise such as the management of infectious diseases and toxicological emergencies.
There are also site visits and day trips to local health facilities planned during the conference.
This year we are also sponsoring an expanded range of optional workshops particularly focusing on educational opportunities for our local colleagues.
We really hope you can join us in Sri Lanka for what is promising to be another amazing experience.
